How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Good read that was fast. There was plenty of action to keep me interested and the spicy scenes are good too. The characters actually had good back stories to them and I felt like they evolved as the book went on. I love me a protective MMC and fated mates. I can't wait to finish the series.

I took a star off for how much it is like IPB. Blue aliens with horns and a tail who can purr. These guys have scales instead of fur though so there is that.

I really did like this book. It had plenty of action and some heat, it just didn't leave me with an intense "I have to read the next one now!" hunger for the next story.

I get it - blue, horned alien hover bike gangs seems like a whole lotta cheese. Sci-if is definitely not my preferred romance sub-genre, either, so I had a lot going against me here. I mainly picked up The Alienโ€™s Ransom to support Ella Maven in her new endeavor.

And then I was promptly put in my place by this book.

It starts with a bang when six human women are deposited on a faraway planet with no hope of returning home. Theyโ€™re caught between warring races on this planet, and they end up with the Drixonians - blue skinned humanoid aliens with lots of piercings, serious onboard weaponry, horns, tails and a penchant to ride on hover bikes as a group (think motorcycle gang). The women question whether theyโ€™ve landed with the good guys or the bad guys, and it becomes clear very quickly that the Drixonians are the good guys, but there are plenty of bad things out there, so sticking with these guys is the womenโ€™s only hope of survival.

The Alienโ€™s Ransom follows one woman - Frankie - and the leader of this particular Drixonian clan, Daz. Together, they form an alliance of sorts, followed by a more important relationship. Ella Maven gives us the backstory seamlessly as Daz gives Frankie the lay of the land, so to speak. We learn about their planet, about the war that is looming, and about the Drixonian people and their customs.

Frankie and Dazโ€™s relationship forms quickly, but under the circumstances, itโ€™s not unbelievable either. I love how Daz showed no hesitation in making Frankie his priority in all things. This alien will absolutely make you swoon. Conversely, I liked how Frankie remained wary for awhile, despite Daz proving time and again that she could trust him. She just found out aliens were real and is going through the emotions of being severed from her home and everyone she loves - itโ€™s only natural that she should give some pause to everything happening around her.

Thereโ€™s an awesome amount of action and suspense in this book. It does a great job of introducing us to future characters and giving us people to root for and others to despise. We get to catch up with Tark and Anna (from the free prequel novella The Alienโ€™s Future - not necessary to read it, but I highly recommend you do!) and are left with more than a few questions that will undoubtedly carry over into future books.

Put aside your preconceived notions. If youโ€™re a lover of romance and strong, alpha males who will literally do ANYTHING for their women, you NEED to give this book a go. You wonโ€™t be disappointed.

I love paranormal romance and sci-fi, but often find that the Sci-fi can lack much of the complexity found in normal sci-fi.
But admittedly it is getting better, but if this author Ella Maven is an example of what's to come, then we are definitely in for a real treat.
This book was amazing it has everything from shock and awe, heaps of fast paced action, women who have been kidnapped, Mystery running the whole length of the book about how the Draxonions ended up in the position they did away from their home planet, and truly is there a fate influencing what is happening with them, there really is so much going on within this novel that even the scenes that were emotional had a major effect, bringing tears to my eyes.
This is beautifully detailed both during the action packed scenes and definitely during the scenes of emotional turmoil that both Frankie and Dax were experiencing during their dramatic adventure escaping those wanting to get their hands on what they coveted, Frankie.
As much as Frankie thought Dax initially was cold looking and appeared heartless, once her barriers were down she is able to see through the tough exterior a perfect way to explain how even those cultures furthest from us can respond so similar to our own human reactions.
If you enjoy reading about the emotional involvement of a human with an alien who didn't speak a word of English, then you're going to love this adventure as it takes into the world of the unknown while seeing amazing similarities within the Draxonian culture, that could be found here on earth.
Wonderfully expressed with plenty of highs and lows and certainly enough cheekiness to keep many having a chuckle.

I read a book a spin off about bosa ad karina and they spoke of the Drixonians who helped free them and I had to know!! So started here. And I can see after this series I will need to head to rexor for Dazโ€™s brothers book. Loved this book. You get so much so fast. We meet Frankie and all the women who have been abducted. Then the dead warriors who were to transport them. They protect females at all costs. Thatโ€™s their life mantra. And when they find out the cargo is females all changes. Especially for Daz who when he watched Frankie get assaulted feels her pain and jumps to defend. They canโ€™t u see stand one another but they learn to trust each other. They grow closer and learn that they are meant for one another. So good. Wow. The uldhani are horrible. I hope they get their due karma. Hope to see more of Anna and tark. Any wait for saxs book!

Well. Turns out I like alien romance? Who knew. Definitely not me, that's for sure! I picked this one up for the BaeClub Romance Reads book club, and I never would have read it on my own. I definitely went in expecting to hate it or find it ridiculous. And to a degree I do find it ridiculous. But in the best trashy romance type of way. At the beginning of the book, I was rolling my eyes over some things and definitely said "what the heck" out loud more than once. But I quickly found myself hooked and devoured the book over two nights. I even went and downloaded the free novella and I'm for sure buying book two. I gotta say I'm hooked on these giant blue Drixonian dudes.
Honestly what made this book hook me was probably Frankie. I related to her, because I too use humor inappropriately to cope with things! I liked that she got to find her strength and grow throughout the story. I like the bits of the other women we get to meet too. And I gotta tell ya, I love the aliens. I do. I like their personalities and how they're all unique. Also I'm here for a species that's entire life is built around protecting and caring for women.
So if you're an open-minded romance reader who doesn't mind some weirdness and also likes to laugh at the books you read, give this one a chance! It's shockingly captivating and enjoyable!! I for one am so ready for the rest of this series!

This book was enjoyable from the beginning to the end. All of the Drixonian warriors are loveable characters. And how they protect their human females is nothing but extraordinary. Pick this book up you will not be able to stop reading it.

I am surprised this was actually a good book. Its more aliens kidnapping women from Earth and selling them off to other aliens. Of course the are rescued but by good guys or bad? You won't know until you read it. The descriptions are wonderful and believable. Definitely worth reading!

I have read plenty of space opera and light space romance but alien romance isn't something I come across often especially with the males having so many differences. You already know what the book is about so I'll skip that and just dive in.
The characters were well developed and believable for the most part. The world was interesting but fell a bit flat since it was secondary to the characters.
This has smut but it wasn't cringe worthy. I wouldn't have been so willing so soon, but she does hold off longer than I though she would have. I did hate the C word tossed out all the time but that's a personal preference.
The aliens were interesting and I wanted to know more about them and their societies.
Most alien romances always have the same tropes (only males since females some how died off from war or illness, the need for females from earth to Breed out, rape and slavery) These tropes were here but executed well. It was believable and didn't go to far. No rape in this book.
Overall an enjoyable read, but heavy on the smut.
