Preachy. If I wanted a sermon, I'd go to church for free and not pay for it. I won't be buying another in this series. and I'm thinking about writing this author off my buy list altogether. Haven't made up my mind yet.
Although my belief system is firmly in place, I enjoyed reading these books. They give the reader a different insight as to what could possibly happen after death, be it accidentally, or by your own hand.
The only problem I had was that there was a fair amount of recapping and retelling in Dominic's story. That's to be expected to some degree because he was so entwined with Michael story. But it got a bit dull there. Also not sure how Thomas can be living his second life where Michael dies in prison and still be in a time line where Dominic knew Michael at military school
I am beyond hooked on this series, I have been reading everything I can from Shawn Inmon! He bounces around a few different genres and entertains completely through all of them. I also keep listening to the audio books as well. I am beginning to think part of me grew up in Middle Falls, and these books are full of stories about my friends and neighbors not to mention some gossip about that rotten Chief D. Worst cop ever. The only book I have ever re-read and multiple audio listings as well was “The Stand” and now pretty much everything Shawn writes. He accidentally posted a list of crap he needed to toss out in his attic. It was riveting!
I was looking for a way to kill time at work and stumbled on to this series. The plot lines were great. I will be reading the rest of the series. I do not want to give anything away. I could not put it down. The only thing that could possibly improved is the fact that most people would remember something that could make them rich. Sports results etc. The only thing he had was Microsoft. Like I said , I loved the plots.
A Gift of Time If you are fascinated by time travel, be it facilitated by machine or by rebirth, you will enjoy this series. If you like character driven stores that explore human nature and choices with a splash of philosophy and end on a good note, you will love this series. If you grew up haunting your library’s SF shelf, you will recognize a kindred spirit. If you grew up in the ‘60s or ‘70s (especially on the west coast), you will feel at home. If you didn’t see this series listed on your kindle unlimited recommendations you will be torn – should you feel sad that you missed each book as it was released or glad that you just found a fascinating series waiting for you?
Choose five stars because, it's the first book in a very long time that held my interest. The characters were well thought out and each individual stood well defined and clear. The plot was exciting and nerve racking, but loved every word.
