5.0 out of 5 starsRapp does it again

Great read seems like all of the rogues are settling down. Harvath, McCarver, and now Rapp. Feel nbad for their significant as comfort usually brings injury or death to them (Smile). Can't wait for next book.

I am a huge Mitch Rapp fan - and IMHO, Kyle Mills did a fabulous job in ORDER TO KILL, but this one missed its mark. The first thing that jumped out at me that something was "off" about this book was that Irene Kennedy was MIA - now, I fully realize that according to the scenario of the book, IK had to be MIA, as well as Scott Coleman, having been severely injured and almost killed, but if you take away IK and SC from MR's "team", you have effectively removed some critical pieces from the missions that MR needs to navigate. SC and IK are characters that even go back to TERM LIMITS before MR even came on the scene, so, again, they are critical players in the Vince Flynn and MR stories. IK is the master strategist, SC is the master of logistics, and MR of course is the master assassin, but without IK and SC, MR is not really able to perform as he has in the past. Some people also complained that Claudia effectively "compromised" MR's performance, however, I believe that she can in fact become a critical player for the team if her character is properly developed - she obviously has considerable talents and was apparently the brains behind the success of her late husband Louis Gould who was just about as good as MR when it came to being a deadly assassin. Hopefully, Kyle Mills will get back to form in his next book and once again bring out the real characters of MR, IK, SC, and Claudia.

And for those of you who have not read ORDER TO KILL - read it and you will see how critically important IK is to MR and the books - IK is critical to MR in getting him in and out of countries when needed, she interfaces with POTUS, she's the liaison with the heads of foreign countries - you cannot possibly have IK MIA. OTK was KM's best book and one of the best MR books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mitch Rapp lives on!

I also am one who has read all of the Mitch Rapp series up to and including Enemy of the State. As you can see, I've rated it at 3 stars. Kyle Mills is an excellent author in his own right. As I have been reading the most recent books of the series after the death of Mr. Flynn, I have started to have a feeling that the difference is that Mr. Flynn actually seemed to be able to put himself in the shoes of Mitch Rapp as he was creating the stories. The friends were Flynn's friends, enemies, Flynn's enemies. What was happening to Mitch was vicariously happening to Flynn and that's the magic. Mr. Flynn was able to place his loyal readers into a personal relationship with Mitch Rapp similar to the relationship with Mitch Rapp that Mr. Flynn had. Mr. Mills most likely identifies with Mitch Rapp only as a subjective 3rd party character. He can't be faulted for this difference. It just happens. And yes, I will continue to read these as long as Mr. Mills continues to write them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Solid Effort

Kyle Mills continues to honor the tradition started by the late Vince Flynn with this latest installment in the Mitch Rapp series. A bit choppy in that the interaction among a team of supporting characters pulled from Rapp’s history is somewhat forced. Yet the effort is commendable to keep the storyline from becoming too redundant. As always, though, a solid story. Looking forward to reading the next installment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to the normal standard I expect out of this series.

I am a big Mitch Rapp fan. So it does not please me at all to say that Enemy of the State was average at best. This was by far my least favorite of all the books written by Vince Flynn or Kyle Mills. Outside of one scene that was played out in Juba, there was never any real sense of excitement or danger to the book. The fact that Grisha Azarov was totally underutilized was also a shame. Finally the ending of the book almost seemed as if Kyle just got tired of writing, or maybe he was up against a deadline that he needed to meet, because it was completely anticlimactic. I won’t give up on the series because of this book, but the next one needs to be a MUCH better to keep my interest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hokey writing at best

Oh, this hurts to write. I LOVE Mitch Rapp and Vince Flynn. One of my favorites! However, Kyle has missed the mark on this one, and I think Vince would be disappointed. Without giving away too much, Mitch goes out on his own and puts together a team of some of the people he’s worked with in the past or that he’s gone up against. It felt forced and hokey at best. It was NOT up to the standards I’m used to in this series. I enjoyed the first books he did after Vince died, but this one missed the mark. I would’ve stopped reading if I didn’t already love the series so much, and I don’t stop reading hardly any books. I’m so disappointed. I hope it gets better again next time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Rapp novel
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 23, 2017

This was by far the most disappointing novel in this series of Mitch Rapp. Reading on my kindle I had no interest in this book until 32 percent had been read. In all honesty I normally would have stopped reading a novel by then but Vince Flynn novels were my favorites. The story did improve from that point forward but still felt disjointed and seemed to lack the flow which good stories seem to have.
I felt this was a pretty mediocre story and I average reading one novel per week in this genre.Writers like people have good and bad work endeavors , this was not a good one.

3.0 out of 5 stars I have always enjoyed the Mitch Rapp series

I have always enjoyed the Mitch Rapp series, which is always fast paced anticipating reading the next page. Enemy of the State was extremely slow and knew basically what was coming before you read the next page. I don’t know if this is the final Mitch Rapp book, one can only wait and see. I still enjoyed the book and will continue to purchase any and/or all new books, hoping they are more suspenseful and not be so easy to know what’s coming before it’s read!

Mitch Rapp killed everyone, and lived to tell about it. Can’t say I did not like it, just very predictable and , you know, he dominates.

3.0 out of 5 stars BUY ON KINDLE NOT AUDIBLE...

Story good but changed narrators from George Guidall to Scott Brick and he is NOT a good fit for the Mitch Rapp Series. His overly dramatic, radio-smarmy, breathy voice does not fit the rugged characters Vince Flynn has created and Kyle Mills has continued. George Guidall performed so perfectly. Had to return the Audible version and read it on Kindle. Hoping they go back to Guidall for the next edition in Fall of 2018.

3.0 out of 5 stars It reads kind of "rough."

I felt there were paragraphs or pages missing. Several times I went back to make sure I hadn't turned 2 pages instead of one. It didn't flow as well as previous books. It seemed the author was forced to shorten the book, leaving questions and issues unanswered at the end. I had previously read the book following this one, and didn't see closure on several subjects.
