Not Really Mystery Stories
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 11, 2013
There are no real mystery stories in this collection. At least none in which the reader would be involved in trying to figure out who the murderer was. Still, some of the short stories are very good, particularly the more modern ones which often had a twist at the end. Many older stories would fall into the pulp fiction genre with their sinister Orientals and beautiful Eurasian women. It was interesting to read that type of story which appealed to a large segment of people in the earlier part of the previous century. A few stories are just flat and plotless. Most of the stories average about 15 pages long so that is fine if one wants a quick read before going to bed. As with any anthology, one must take the good with the bad. I just wish there had been more good.
