This is a great book. Lots of action, suspense and steam. Bray is called on to escort a doctor through the Canadian Rockies on a luxury train trip. He’s convinced this will be his easiest mission ever. Yeah right! Beautiful Dr Marie Brighton is furious with her brother for getting her an unnecessary body guard. While the two get to know each other they find they’re enjoying the trip and the company. But we know trouble is coming and boy does it. Bray is determined to keep Marie safe while realizing she’s more than a mission. You don’t want to miss out on this one.
Bray was a great addition to the Lighthouse series. This was a fun and exciting story with some really well written characters. Bray is ready for his next mission, it seems to be a pretty cushy assignment after all a nice train ride through the Canadian Rocky Mountains with a nice beautiful doctor. Dr. Marie Brighton is excited about her train vacation, but her over protective older brother wants her to have security and Bray seems like a nice companion. When things seem a bit off, this is where the story takes you on one great adventure. I loved this book and I highly recommend.
Overprotective brother who hired "bodyguard/security" for his sister who is afraid to fly because of a helicopter crash she was injured in as a teenager. The description she told her brother that she wanted for her bodyguard was awesome but neither knew how close that truly was to describe him. Now their train has gone over the cliff and most of it ends in the bottom of the gorge but they happened to be in the last car and that one only went a little way down before resting on a huge boulder. Now they are on the run and trying g to hide from the only other survived who is out to kill them so there are no witnesses to his crime. But is it who they think it is? Will the rest of the Keepers get to them first? Will she get over her fear of flying?
I received a free, advance copy of Bray by Maryann Jordan. Alan Bray, or Bray, of Lighthouse Investigations is charged with keeping Marie Brighton safe as she takes a luxury train trip from Vancouver to Toronto. Marie was in a serious helicopter crash when she was a teen and badly injured her leg. Because of that accident, Marie doesn't fly. Marie is not on board with having a body guard at all. She finally agrees with Bray being a travel companion on the trip. The book moves into a slow build of their friendship as they and their fellow travelers journey through the Canadian Rockies. It reminded me of a Gordon Lightfoot song, Canadian Railroad Trilogy, which is a history of Canadian railroads. The speed of the song builds as it goes along. The book also builds as it goes along until all of a sudden it takes off like a rocket. I absolutely couldn't put it down. I had a hard time finding a point where I could stop for a break. The suspense was fantastic. I'm Canadian and loved that it was set, in large part, in Canada. I usually can figure out the endings before I get there, but this book wasn't so easy, it absolutely held me guessing until the very end. I hope you give the book a try and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Bray is one of the few single Keepers left in the group. He is okay with that until he receives his next mission. His birthday is coming up and he hasn't really taken a vacation in a while. His mission is to escort a Dr. on a luxury train ride through the Canadian Rockies. She is a bit reluctant to let her family, namely her brother bully her into taking a bodyguard with her. She gives her brother a list of demands for said bodyguard thinking that her brother couldn't possibly find someone. Well, he did and now Marie has to battle her growing feelings for him while fate throws curve balls at the couple.
I loved this book. Bray and Marie have an attraction from the begging. She is an amazing character who doesn't let her family push her around. She had a horrific accident in her teens and that helps shape her into the doctor she is today. Ms. Jordan brings these two together to help them heal in a way. They have both been through traumatic experiences that have helped them understand each other in a way few can. I love how Ms. Jordan always weaves quotes through her stories because they are poignant and absolutely perfect for the story and the characters. This is storytelling at its best.
We see little bits of Bray in the first nine keepers books so as always it makes me excited when they get their own books and we can get a little more into their head. Bray thought this was going to be a nice and easy job escorting a doctor on a first class train ride through the Canadian Rockies mountains . Little did he expect her to be as beautiful as she is and she never expected him to look like a model. This is so not what Marie had expected when her FBI brother had told her he was going to send protection. Throughout the beginning they kept telling themselves that they were complete opposites. Then as only Maryann Jordan can they start to fall for one another as they try and out run a madman on a train that is headed for disaster. During their run from the madman they start to realize that they may not as different as they thought and some times differences make things better. It is always amazing to watch how Maryann Jordan's couples over come so much to come out as strong and loving couples. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
OMG! Another FANTASTIC story by Maryann! Bray is assigned to a doctor who is taking a train trip to her new job. Marie is on her way to her new job via train trip and really didn't want a bodyguard but when saw Bray, she was willing to work with him. The trip was going well until there was an explosion. To say they had an adventure was an understatement. Once the Keepers came to their rescue, things seemed to kind of go back to normal. These two did start falling for each other on the trip and things progressed from there. It got intense again when the unexpected bad guy found Marie but Gray and the Keepers were there to rescue Marie. Now Marie decided to move in with Bray and they worked on their happily ever after! FANTASTIC job Maryann! I would highly recommend this book!
"Whatever good or bad fortune may come our way, we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value." ~ Hermann Hesse (Quoted by Maryann in "Bray.")
This quote fits both Allan Bray and Dr. Marie Brighton beautifully. In this adventure, Allan Bray is tasked with escorting Dr. Marie Brighton from Vancouver to Boston on a luxurious train ride through the Canadian Rockies. Sounds easy right? Maybe not. Through adventures in the wild and working to develop a relationship, both Bray and Marie are called on to reach deep inside and find more strength. They learn that they become stronger by being together.
The twists and turns in this story will keep you on your toes. I enjoyed matching wits with Maryann (and will confess that I was caught by surprise at the end).
