How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsEnjoyed the story line

I have read my fair share of suspense novels and what I liked best about the main character in this book is that she ,Frankie, is an ordinary person with her own set of baggage. It is a refreshing change from the beautiful and rich heroine that are so often portrayed.

2.0 out of 5 starsI guess every good author has a bad book

This had to be the most boring, long drawn out story ever. The plot didn't really make sense. The characters were so so. Too bad. The DD Warren books are so good. This series is pretty awful

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright, but not great

This book is about Frankie Elkin and her journey to find lost girls, many who other have forgotten about. Although I have read lots of Lisa Gardner's other books, this was not one of my favorites.

It was hard to understand - the why of her mission. I know her boyfriend dies, but what else. Yes she is damaged, but why, lots of people are recovering alcoholics. It seems she is not living her life at all but hiding in all this. I liked most of the characters, the one that she explained well enough. But the plot was not intriguing enough for me. Sorry, not a fan of this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Promising Start but ultimately disappointing

For a time while reading this novel I excitingly thought I had lucked into something special in the mystery genre and would probably be writing a five star review. The book features a truly unique, interesting, fully imagined protagonist and first person narrator, some sharp, clever, believable dialog, trenchant, seemingly accurate descriptions of the Boston neighborhood setting, a reasonably plausible, mostly well-constructed plot (at least initially) and a mostly logical, authentic depiction of investigative techniques. However, for me, about two thirds of the way into the novel things began careening off the fictional tracks and ultimately derailed entirely. The resolution, the explanation of what happened to the victims was both tortuously complicated and ludicrously, laughably unbelievable and--even worse-- the book then concludes with some artificial, tacked on, terribly cliched, made for B-movie heroics by the principal character. Promising start but in the end very disappointing.

I looked at the reviews before i bought this book. there were many negative but to me unfairly so. I went with the positives and glad i did. Meeting Frankie and following her through this ordeal was very well written in my opinion. The plot was sometimes hard to follow ( the paul and amy part wasn’t totally clear - especially Amy and how Paul came to
his fate) and a bit drawn out at times. i liked the characters stoney and Viv and charlie and piper. i gave it 3 stars as it did hold my interest but it wasn’t good enough for me to rate it higher. I see there is a book 2 in the frankie elkin series and it does peak my interest to see what frankie does next. we’ll see. Enjoyable read!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but too many sub topics

Frankie Elkins, the main character is well develop, but the constant repetition about addiction, alcoholism and its impact on her personality are too much. The side story about her former lover and the detailed descriptions of her dreams do not add to the story. Too many distracting paths

The author takes a long time to build her characters. Doesn’t get good until halfway through the book. It’s definitely not a book for people who like suspense and/or action.

Entertaining story that held my interest. Not very realistic in some respects, but I disagree with some of the negative reviews.

I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan, I have read every one of her books. I had to look at the picture on the back to reassure myself that it was really her. I can usually read a book in a couple of days this has taken close to two weeks. I am giving it three stars because the book arrived on time in great condition.
