I have read my fair share of suspense novels and what I liked best about the main character in this book is that she ,Frankie, is an ordinary person with her own set of baggage. It is a refreshing change from the beautiful and rich heroine that are so often portrayed.
I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan, but not a fan of this book. I usually inhale a Gardner book and can finish it in a couple of days. By a couple of months I was only half way through this book. It is slow, a lot of really meaningless introspection on the part of the main character. When I was halfway through the book and I could care less what happened to the character or the teen she was trying to find, I knew it was time to pull the bookmark and move on. I was very disappointed with this book.
I had to go back and check the reviews after I started reading, only to be shocked that it was by Lisa Gardner. After reading the first several chapters, I would have guessed this was an inexperienced, self-published author.
The main character is a recovering alcoholic, and that is about the most interesting thing about her. Constant flashbacks to an apparently failed marriage are just sad and depressing. Plot line doesn't move at all. The most interesting thing in the book so far is the feral cat that makes random appearances.
Give it a pass and save yourself $15. What a ripoff.
Can I have a refund.....I have always loved Lisa Gardner's books, but I struggled with this book. The book did not even read like her other books. I was going to suggest this for our bookclub, but definitely will not.
This new character is very annoying and deranged. An alcoholic with unsolved issues is all of a sudden a great person when it comes to asking the right questions and solving mysteries. Very unrealistic please don’t continue with this demanding annoying character
If I could get my money back I would. It was horribly boring. I expected different from Lisa Gardner. Loved all her other books. This one was just monotonous, nothing interesting. WHY would she have written this??? Don't bother.
