Perfect for a cigar humidor / coolidor

It’s perfect for use in a cigar humidor. I have a 60 quart cooler I fill with cigars and let it age. Now I can wireless check the humidity without having to constantly open the lid and let all the humidity out. I use 65 percent hygrometer beads so I know my humidor is always at that percentage. As seen in my picture my current hygrometer is showing 65% and the switchbot version is off by -2%. Good part is you can adjust and compensate for the difference within the app. Now I set alarms when the humidity dips below a certain percentage (i also have the switchbot HUB) so I can go and add some more water. Just set it and forget it

Not exactly a stunning product...

First of all, the product description is misleading. It purports to be a temperature and humidity monitor, that you can use to monitor the temperature in your home via the free app for your smartphone. There are few details in this product's description, but after you get it, you find that in order for it to work with the app OUTSIDE your home, you need to purchase a hub. I'm not sure what value the app would have to monitor the temp INSIDE your home, as you could just look at any thermometer and see what the temp is.

So you get the hub (another $50) and the documentation for setting up the hub and the meter are almost useless. And the app DOES NOT act like the documentation says it does.

Once you set up the hub, getting the meter to work with it is not easy, nor intuitive. On the first time through setup, I thought it was done (although it also just looked like it stopped), but there was no meter defined to the app. Trying setup again, I noticed a "checkmark" at the top of the screen, that needed to be pressed. It is in a place I would not have looked for... I was expecting a button that says "Done" or "OK", like the previous screens had ("Continue").

There are all kinds of things that are confusing, like what does "inverse" mean, as it applies to the settings? It's below "Temperature" and above a slider for the temperature range. There is a setting for Celcius/Fahrenheit in "Preferences", but that does not affect the meter... just the display of data on the app. I discovered that the button on the back of the meter adjusted from "C" to "F", but that's not anywhere in the documentation.

Then there's the data itself. After playing with it a while, getting it to work (no, it's not just a few minutes, unless you designed this thing), I wanted to clear the temperature and humidity data. There's button on the "Meter History" page, labeled "Clear Data", but it's not a functioning button... I have no idea how to clear the data out. Maybe it rolls off after the memory is full?? But, then, maybe the device just stops recording when the memory is full... I don't know and don't see how one finds out... until the memory fills up. Oh, yeah... how much memory is in this little device? It's supposed to poll the temp and humidity every 4 seconds, but I can't imagine it takes much memory to story that data.

There's a neat little graph on that page, with dates and times, but it doesn't have a scale on the graph, so you have to look at the avg, max, and Min to see where the temp has been.

I looked at the "Scenes" functionality. I expected it to give me an option to have an alert sent to my phone if the temp went out of range. Interestingly enough, the temperature conditions SHOW "higher than" and "lower than" and a temperature, BUT I can't get it to switch to "lower than". And the "actions" block has nothing I can choose. I suspect that's because I only have the hub and this meter. Maybe, if I had more devices, it would allow me to do something with one of them, as a result of the temperature going "higher than".

Overall, I'm unimpressed, regardless of the hype the manufacturer puts out about how this is the best home automation product available, etc. I'm going to use it for a couple weeks and see if my opinion changes. Otherwise, this is looking like an Amazon return for me.

I bought 3 for the house. The design is pretty and has a nice heft / weight to it. It feels sturdy and well built. Adding them to the Switchbot App was a little puzzling due to the lack of clear instructions. But once you get the process, it's a cinch. I will write down steps for this below this review.

I was curious to see if these sensors are accurate. So I placed all 3 sensors side by side and left them in a room for 1/2 hour. I was pleasantly surprised to find the readings on all of them fairly close. (1st pic)

I also love the fact that from the Switchbot app, you can also calibrate and add/minus the temperature reading from each sensor should you choose to.

Fahrenheit and Celsius can be easily switched from the Sensor itself. Once added to the Switchbot app, you can also toggle this under Main Menu > Preference setting.

Note: This works as is straight out of the box, but if you want integration to Smart Home / Alexa, or remote access, you need Switchbot Hub Plus.

STEPS
1 Open Switchbot App. Top right corner is the main menu pull down tab (3 horizontal lines). Click on it
2 Click on Add Device (as shown on my 2nd pic)
3 Select "Meter".
4 Hold down the button behind the Sensor right above the battery compartment until the Bluetooth icon flashes in the Sensor's LCD display.
5 Click Next on your App and follow instructions. It should be pretty straightforward from here on out.

You may have to update your firmware on your Hub Plus. Those instructions are fairly straightforward from the App. Once you have done so, you can Pair your sensors with your Hub Plus under "Cloud Service" (Click on the "Gears" icon on your newly added Meter in the App)

Once you enable Cloud Service, you can check your Sensor remotely and also see historical temp/ humidity data.

I live top floor of a second story old apartment complex. This summer temperatures exceeded 100 degrees inside my apartment. I was dying and looking for a solution. I did some research and discovered this brand. The thermostat was very straightforward and easy to install. I even purchased the smart hub that works with it to control my infrared controlled AC. This AC unit is soo old it doesn't even have temperature controls other than low, med, high. I pair the hub with this thermostat and use the IFTTT app to help regulate the temperature of my apartment before coming back to work. I highly recommend this item, as the iphone app helps me track how hot it is in my apartment and lets me control the range for the temperature using IFTTT.

Great addition to the Switchbot line up

I am so happy switchbot makes this product. I got this in conjunction with the hub plus and switchbot so I could turn on a space heater in my basement. Now I can automatically turn it on when a certain temperature is sensed and back off when another temp is sensed. Perfect accessory for those that want to do something like this. You can also pair the hub plus with controlling something like an AC with the IR it has and use this thermometer to control it.

It also seems very accurate, I put it right next to my thermostat and the temp readings were the same. Really works well. I'll keep messing with this in the next few months but it works very well for me.

Tu device is very slick and simple. I like the minimal design with the big number. There are no functions but displaying temperature ad humidity, which is all you need for the aim of the device. There is one sticker provided to possibly attach the small cube to the wall or somewhere else. Generally a good product.

I really like this, Brought one to test to start and stop Fan in Bathroom when humidity rises from taking a shower. Took a moment to figure out setup to get it to work with GE smart switch, but works great with IFTTT, SwitchBot and SmartThings to control my GE smart switch. No more tell the wife and kids to turn on the exhaust Fan! Just purchased two more for Master Bathroom and Steam Shower in ManCave(Basement).
