As I read this carefully planned and written story, I kept trying to determine where the author was taking me. I was so angry hairy Ken and his lack of respect for his wife. At the same time, I had so much sympathy for David as he literally suffered at Jane's lies. The author did such a good job in her planning, using only carefully dated letters. There was no need for additional dialogue. Until the very end, I wondered about the ending, but it was perfect. You will love it!

I am a little late to the party on this one...but I loved it! ❤️

Beginning in 1976, a written correspondence commences between the wife and husband whose spouses are having an affair with one another.

87 pages. That's all it took to make me love the characters and to make me root for David and Carrie with all my heart. I'm in awe with how Taylor Jenkins Reid made me feel so many strong emotions. The whole book is written through letters, but don't let that stop you: it was definitely the perfect way to tell this story. Some letters were gut-wrenching . They felt so real, like they were addressed to me.

This a very short story, but packs a powerful, poignant, and emotional punch. How an author manages to cram so many turbulent feelings, and incredible character growth into such a small amount of space is remarkable

Not only was this book heart wrenching, it was also fascinating, what with the aspect of music and lyrics bringing Sydney and Ridge together. If there’s one thing that gets me as emotional as books do, it’s music. I have to say: my favorite part of this whole novel would be the lyrics. Every word was just so perfect for every scene, every emotion, and I just loved it beyond everything else. A gorgeous soundtrack accompanies Maybe Someday and it contains the songs Sydney and Ridge wrote for and about each other. Listening to the soundtrack album while reading the respective scenes was the best thing ever! I’ve never had such an unforgettable reading experience until this one!

I didn't expect the ending. The twist was SO GOOD!
I felt so many emotions reading the letters-heartbreak, despair, hope. As a married woman, I would be devastated if something like this happened to me, and I shed real tears for Carrie and David. I did like that we got to see some of the letters from Janet and Ken as well, despite how sick and angry they made me feel. While their spouses were having an affair, these strangers found each other, helped and supported each other, and it was beautiful.

This was a short story and wow it pulled my heart strings! I love TJR's books and writing so much. I wanted more from this story but also, it was perfect the way it was. Marriage is hard and wow does this capture some raw feelings and struggles. I recommend this one!

As someone that had been in Carrie's shoes, this book felt very personal, only wish it was around long ago. I realized what was missing from my heartbreak was a David. I would not (nor did I) stick it out as long as Carrie. Bittersweet ending.

As David and Carrie discover it is made of unhappy truths that are unearthed when your life is not what you imagined, when you realize that you’ve taken so much for granted and in the mundane of everyday life you may have missed so much around you.

Reid’s short story is incredibly crafted through a Aries of letters. Through the correspondence, we learn of the roads not taken and the roads choose. We are treated to histories, current dailies, and future hopes and dreams. We discovers the depths and the shallows of our four main characters.

At its core, Evidence of an Affair is the story of marriage and the spaces we live in together. It’s about the power of attraction, the meaning of love, and what commitment can mean.

Find a sliver of time and treat yourself to David and Carrie (and Ken and Janet”s journeys. It won’t always be easy to read but I’m the end, you’ll be glad you did.
