This DVD is a very basic guide to navigation covering mainly; channel markers such as buoys, beacons and day markers and how to navigate through or around them into and out of port.
I think it is worth watching since it provides important information but it is so basic you may only need to watch it a few of times.
To better understand aids and charts I recommend the following NOAA publication that is available online in PDF format. It is a large file, 6mb, and around 130 pages. It is also available in printed format from some different companies including Amazon. Check online at the NOAA site first so you know the current edition. http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/chart1/ChartNo1.pdf U.S. Chart No. 1 Symbols, Abbreviations and Terms used on Paper and Electronic Navigational Charts
This was an informative and interesting video presented well. The quizzes at the end of each segment helped to reinforce the material covered. I have been boating for decades but learned about quite a few nuances regarding shapes, colors, locations of buoys and how to use these.
