This story brings home the emotional damage caused by rape, especially if the perpetrators go unpunished. The plot is exciting and the reader wants to keep reading to find out what happens. However, I think many authors in the genre need to understand a really responsible police officer/leader goes days with almost zero sleep. Second, trained personnel would never enter a place where there is almost sure to be danger alone, or leave another office alone when danger is quite probably present.

FBI Agents Nikki Hunt and her partner Liam are called to the scene of a gruesome triple homicide with one victim clinging to life. One of the murdered victims has been missing for a few days and the agents and local detectives are trying to learn why she was there. The survivor is a star swimmer, son of a lawyer and member of the fraternity. The story shows the frat, wealthy and athletic and how some think they are above everyone else. Nikki is battling her ex-husband's parents for custody of her daughter, Lacey. That is in the back of her mind, so when she wants to work on the case, she knows she needs to be home for Lacey. I love the way Nikki and Liam can communicate without speaking. Detective Brenner is in charge at the local level. This is her first homicide. I really liked her, but she seemed to disappear towards the end. I enjoyed this book and as always, awaiting the next installment in this series.

I would give this book 3 1/2 stars if Goodreads and Amazon would let me, but will settle with 3. After reading 5 out of the 6 books in the series, I have finally figured out what I don’t like about them (though it took til the third book to see the pattern). Every book has so much going on at the same time. So many suspects and every suspect has its own nefarious past or crazy situation that is going on at the same time. This book takes it to a whole different level with literally everyone having a horrible past, including the people who end up dead. It just becomes too much to process and I find myself gliding over all of it. Lastly, Nikki’s guilt over everything that happens has become quite tedious and annoying as I’ve mentioned in the other books. So, will all that stop me from reading the last book in the series? No, I’m too invested now so on to the last one I go.

What a twist on revealing the villian! I didn't see that coming.

Although there was a bit of domestic drama in the backstory, I'm glad this book mostly focused on the case.

I have to say... the endings of each book are rather... abrupt. They feel like a quick summary, rather than really telling the story of what happened after solving the case. It's not too bad, but feels a bit rushed? or maybe "I-can't-be-bothered-writing-anymore"? That might be a bit unfair, but it's how it feels when I reach the end of each book.

Oh well, since this is one of the best FBI protagonists in a series that I've read, I'll definitely be eagerly awaiting the next sequel.

P.S. For the author... you can't cash a check a year later unless it's a bank issued cashier check. After 90 days a check is considered "stale-dated" and must be replaced. Since that wasn't an FBI specific thing, I guess you didn't research that aspect. Sorry.

This storyline of a rich frat boy accused of rape with rich parents isn't very original but Stacy Green did manage to lift it a notch by killing off the parents and nearly killing the frat boy. However it did drag on a bit. There were plenty of suspects, all of them very lacklustre and I got the feeling that Ms Green wasn't too sure which direction to take the book and indeed who to blame!

The sub plot throughout regarding the custody battle of Nikki's daughter was rushed at the end, as if inconsequential but did the job in a concise fashion.

I've enjoyed the previous books in this series but I note that the next book involves Rory becoming a suspect in Nikki's case! We've already been there in book 4!

I'm not sure if I will read it, you can't go to the same well time and time again.

When agent Nikki Hunt arrives at the crime scene she is warned it’s a bad one. With not one but three bodies it’s unclear what happened to the victims and with the heating turned high, and time of death difficult to work out, it looks like the killer knew what they doing.

As Nikki and her team delve deeper it’s clear not everyone they’ve spoken to is being honest, and with the one survivor in a coma and his odds not looking great, it’s down to them to dig deeper and see who is responsible.

I love this series of books so much and this one has proved to be just as good. From the start I was gripped and I really enjoyed trying to work out the who’s and whys along with Nikki and her team. There was plenty to keep you guessing with twists to take you in another direction just when you think you’ve got it all figured out but as usual, I didn’t guess. A really great book, I look forward to reading more about Nikki Hunt in the future.

Loved the flow and how the character profiles evolved. I would have loved to have read a bit more for the conclusion, with maybe a bit more background etc on the killer girls. Thankyou also for tackling such a sensitive topic involving date rape and other mental health issues. I would like to read more about Nikki and her developing relationship with Rory but that's the romantic in me. Most of all thankyou for helping me discover a genre I never would have delved into.
