Their Frozen Graves: A Completely Addictive Crime Thriller and Mystery Novel (Detective Mackenzie Price, Book 2) Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Two women are dead. They both look like you.
The giant stretch of frozen river was melting and the light made the lake glitter like crystals. The women lay side by side on the shore, eyes open and glassy. Their long, dark hair was like tangled rope, their faces a reflection of each other....
When two bodies are found dumped in a vast lake in Lakemore, Washington, Detective Mackenzie Price is first on the scene. She identifies one of the victims as Katy Becker, a local known for her work helping the community. The other victim looks strikingly similar.
Still grappling with a shocking revelation from her past, Mack is only too happy to throw herself into the case. But when she goes to break the news to Katy’s husband, the investigation takes an unexpected turn: Katy is very much alive and has never met the women who resemble her so closely.
Now the race is on to find the killer before Katy becomes the next victim. But when Mack unearths a disturbing connection to a 16-year-old suicide, she realizes they could be hunting someone whose crimes span decades - and there are more lives than just Katy’s at stake.
Addictive, pulse-pounding, and packed full of jaw-dropping twists, fans of Lisa Regan, Angela Marsons, and Karin Slaughter will love the Their Frozen Graves.

This story is told from Mack's POV. It allows the reader to understand her feelings, thoughts and upheaval as she works her way through the latest episode in her personal and professional life. Mack is definitely a strong woman emotionally or is she just holding it together? She is dealing with the reappearance of her father, who she helped her mother bury years earlier, as well as the break up of her marriage when her husband, Sterling and ADA was unfaithful. He is hanging on trying to get back together as well as protect Mack from this man who must be a scammer. Her job keeps her mind off personal things and she gives it her all. I love her partner, Detective Nick Blackwood. He complements Mack's brashness and is able to play good cop/bad cop with her. He loves his daughter, Luna, although she lives with her mother. I love that they are great friends and partners and there is no sexual or romantic tension. This is a gripping story that blends both storylines well. Both the twisty murders and missing women cases and Mack's personal story are equally entertaining and I was invested in both. The story starts with a bang and doesn't let up with all it's action, twists and red herrings. If you enjoy a good Detective story with a great plot and wonderful characters, I recommend you pick up this book or series by Ruhi Choudhary.

Why would anyone change their appearance so they looked like a social influencer and why were they murdered together in a popular local park? These two questions, although confusing, are only the beginning of a case which will test Mack, Nick, and the beleaguered Lakemore PD to their limits. The brief moments of downtime Mack has is spent trying to dismantle and put back together her childhood memories and the remains of her marriage. Almost everything else will be put on hold while they try to understand what happened and why.
In the second of Ruhi Choudhary's great series both Mack and Nick are engaging, believable protagonists within a very good group who, after the first book, are definitely up against more than just the criminals whose crimes they investigate. Add a new lieutenant to the mix and its satisfaction levels for the reader soar.
Although Mack has a much more complicated back story than Nick, theirs is a partnership whose normality in all scenarios is a welcome relief. The crimes in this book appear confusing, which they are, but their originality means it's hard to put this book down once you start reading. The various threads come together throughout the book in a most satisfying manner and head toward a denouement which provides hope and shock in equal measure.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed this book immensely and the more I read the better it became. Highly recommended.
I nearly gave up but the storyline kept me reading. I wonder if this was the authors intention, if so, she succeeded.
