I love that, while there is a similar flow to each of the books, the personality of the characters was allowed to evolve. There was an "instalove" aspect that I always enjoy- but because of the personality and background of the characters, I always finish the book believing in a happily ever after.
I have been waiting for Nicoletta and Taviano's story since book one and feel like it was worth the wait. Nicoletta starts off as the wild child, a rebel running away from the abuse of her childhood. Taviano is initially seen as just the youngest Ferraro brother, the peace maker. Yet they mesh in a way that works.
I loved this book. I enjoyed the partnership that evolved between the two main characters. I was happy that the danger threatening Nicoletta was resolved. The crazy, erratic behavior of Eloisa Ferraro toward her children is somewhat explained. So many loose ends tied up! (Note to Christine- please find a way to save Sandlin- he is too great a character to kill off)
Final words- if you have not read this series, I HIGHLY recommend this book (but please read the series in order for maximum enjoyment!) The Ferraro men are NOT always politically correct but they are protective, loyal, loving, intelligent and passionate. Sigh. I want one...
While this is book 5 of a series, I believe it would stand alone. The author does a great job of keeping everyone up to speed on what's going on. This book also has little tidbits about the couples we've seen before. It also features some of the other cousins. We learn more about those in New York and LA. I'm excited to see more books for those Ferraros.
The writing continues to be excellent. I love how the tale twists and turns in unexpected ways. I never would have guessed where this flight was taking the story. It changed everything. I also admired the task of dealing with the pain in the past for both of these characters. The authors note at the beginning gives a glimpse of the struggle the author had but she did an amazing job. Well done.
I have enjoyed every one of the books in this series. But this one has become my favorite. It might have something to do with Taviano's care of Nicoletta. His willingness to share and open up to her. His training history is as ugly as was another brothers. But he didn't issue orders at Nicoletta as Stephano might have done. No, he did something I never thought I'd see any Ferraro brother do. No I can't tell you but the point is, he put Nicoletta first. I loved that.
Both of these characters are strong and care for each other. They don't have a clue how much the other feels for them. It's adorable, really. But I so enjoyed them discovering the truth. And I was so impressed with Nicoletta. She stood up to Eloisa. I don't mean just ignoring her and letting that women's venom roll off her, I mean she laid her flat on more than one occasion. Go Nicoletta! You rock, girl.
I continue to adore this world. Shadow riders delivering justice when the law can't touch them. Powerful alpha men that protect and love hard. Strong women that fight many battles, though differently than the men, but are just as amazing as their men. It's a brilliant world that I enjoy visiting often.
If you haven't read this series, get started. It's a great escape.

I loved that we saw a little more of some of the cousins (presumably setting up future books when we run out of this branch of the family).
I understand what some readers are complaining about. These books have all become quite dark in recent years with an awful lot of abuse and violence towards women and children. I can cope with it, but can understand how others have had enough. It has become a common theme throughout many books.
Sadly, the price of Christine Feehan's ebooks in the UK seems to have risen. I got this one for the usual price because I'd preordered it before the price rose. I also have the next few releases preordered at the normal price. After that, I guess I won't be reading anything new from this author. The usual price (£5.99) is my absolute limit for an ebook and I refuse to pay more than that. I understand the price being more expensive when a book is released and I'm happy to wait until the price comes down, but it seems £6.99 is the new standard price. Considering this is more than the US price (after exchange rate) and in some cases more than the paperback version, I won't be paying that. Not even for a favourite author. It's a shame, but I only have so much money for books and there are other authors I also love who charge £5.99 or less.
I did not like how many time it was repeated that nick was raped by all her uncle's and Valdez, I also didn't like during certain sexual act the topic of the rape by the uncle's and Valdez would come up and what was done.
this book is suppose to be romantic and I did not get that, but this book had a lot of understanding between the two many characters
Because Tav secret was relieved I liked how the two many characters of the book work on over coming so of the bad experience that has happened to them in there life's.
I also like that even with all that has happened to Nick you can tell she is strong yes she has demons that she has to fight because of what has happened to her but you can tell she gets a little stronger every day.
So does tav even through he had to go through it alone and he made the choice not to tell his siblings mainly his older brother he is such a strong character.
Over all this book was ok a little disappointing for me but I love the series and can't wait for Emmanuels book.
I'm team Elli but I can be persuaded to be team Val i'll just have to wait and see.
Did I love this book?? Well. No.
Why?? I don't know! I liked both the main characters, loved catching up with the siblings and the cousins, even Eloise.
But, there is still lots of padding out, the fight scenes seemed to blur into one, and I thought a lot of repitition about previous events and the way they felt about each other and how the family have to be perfect in all they do.
It's two star from me I'm afraid.
