I rented this movie, and I regret every second I sat through it. By far the worst movie I have ever seen. The plot made no sense at all, the characters were a joke, the French accents were terrible. How did this film get funded? Acting was bad, directing bad, story bad, everything bad bad bad. I would give this film negative stars. I usually find something good in every film I watch, and I watch a ton of films, but this was one everyone should just stay far away from this one. A waste of time and money. I didn't even finish the last ten minutes because I could not take the agony any longer.
Before deciding to randomly click play on Lucky Day I spent the afternoon climbing, bruising my back and literally peeled the skins of my hands. However this viewing "experience" made me forget all pain and replaced it with a raging headache coupled with a true sense of despair for mankind and all that is beautiful in this world, this film is so bad it will make you feel you've been lobotomized.
This is by far the WORST movie I have ever rented. Couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes, mostly due to the poor dialogue and acting but the flat-footed direction and editing can't be held blameless either. The only redeeming aspect of this 24 frame-per-second train wreck is watching Crispin Glover try to act with a thick French Pepé LePew accent. Don't be fooled, while the trailer for this movie would have you believe that this waste of bandwidth is cut from the same cloth as Pulp Fiction, it is not—don't let the marketing mislead you. Should be rated PG—Pure Garbage.

No spoilers, mostly just information about the type of movie this is.
I see a lot of negative reviews from people who stopped watching early on and who didn't understand this movie is a parody.
If you've watched even half of the movie (but especially after finishing it), you know that this was not meant to be taken seriously. That's why people who go in trying to take it seriously are having such a poor experience. If this was supposed to be taken as a realistic movie, I would rate it poorly too. The thing is it's not and if you keep watching it, it becomes fairly obvious that it's not.
It is making fun of these gangster tropes, it is being silly and very unreal. It does a good job of parodying the gangster movies it is making fun of.
I don't know if the labeling of the type of movie it is was a mistake or a deliberate attempt to get more people to see it or it was just some experiment, but the movie definitely is not labeled correctly. It seems like that for some reason, marketing decided to try and make it seem like it was a serious film. That makes people going in who are looking to see that type of movie feel that this is failing miserably. They get a bad impression and stop watching.
If you read this before you watch this movie and know that you're going into a light parody mixed with dark comedy, you will have a much better time. That is what this is and it does a good job with what it was trying to do there.
I could not watch this movie & had to press STOP. Within the first t 15 minutes these are the only Black characters portrayed: - confused & disruptive tourists arriving at LAX - car thieves - prostitutes - girlfriend of (non-Black) character who hands her over to an enemy (also non-Black) so he can rape her in a men's bathroom NOTE: girlfriend expresses full pleasure during this rape scene, screaming about how well endowed the (non-Black) rapist is NOTE 2: the rapist kills her immediately after the rape scene I have never seen a more racist movie.
My unlucky day was when I wasted $5.99 to rent this movie. I lasted 30 minutes before I stopped watching. This movie was awful. I rented it because of Roger Avary's long history of making movies with Tarantino. But...It's like an amateur movie made by someone who wanted his movie to be hip and edgy like Tarantino, but hired terrible actors and wrote a terrible story. Run, do not walk away from this movie. One star.
At first glance I thought this movie might be bizarre in a good way nope, pure garbage. Why what’s intriguing about a poser French psychopath?I really don’t care how he got to be what he is, in Pulp Fiction there was a pertinence why the characters became well what they were and I wanted to find out. Please do me a favor stay out of Tarantino’s lane and find your own. What’s up with all the French this and that damn give it a break.

I finished watching "Lucky Day" (2019) which means that I am either a glutton for punishment or was having a relatively UN-lucky day. There was five minutes of actual movie crammed into ninety some minutes of pretty awful action and other variety of otherwise offensive variety of bad jokes, racial stereo typing, and general insulting of an audience willing to watch. The plot fits in two sentences: Crook salvaged a bit from a robbery gone bad and serves is time dreaming of running off with said ill gotten gains with beautiful but either quite ignorant OR complicit wife. Bad things go down in levels of increasing absurdity and there is a hint the couple hits a jackpot. If they had kept to that plot line but made the increasingly absurd antics far more subtle they may have been able to do better with the strong performance of the three faux french speaking female leads. Instead this carries on like a fantasy and thus become completely absurd and insulting. Two Stars is as high as I can go as Nina Dobrev and Nadia Fares tried hard to give their characters depth--one star for each in a fractured but complete story that is barely watchable.
