If you're interested in an adventure, Land of Mist should be at the top of your watch list. The film follows Ed and Wendy Isenhart as they circumnavigate Vancouver Island on their 45 foot sailboat, Integrity. They follow in the wake of Captain George Vancouver, a British officer of the Royal Navy, who explored and charted North America's northwestern Pacific Coast regions in the late 1700's, including the coasts of contemporary British Columbia.
The filmmakers explore all the shorelines and coves that make an adventure like this so captivating. The film was shot in standard definition, but don't let that stop you. This is a voyage that holds up to the test of time, with wildlife, natural beauty, and sailing tales that will carry you through one of the premier cruising grounds of the Pacific Northwest.
This fantastic movie brought back all the wonderful memories that I have of charter fishing out of the fishing village of Uculet, on the tip of Vancouver Island. They have not exaggerated by any means in their descriptions of the incredible beauty and wonder of the journey they had made. I regret that I had not taken the time to do a more thorough exploration of our wonderful neighbor to the north. You will not regret watching this great sailing movie and I have two sailor friend that will find a copy of Land of Mist in their Christmas Stocking! My advice to you ..have a LARGE bowl of hot buttered popcorn to watch this with.
Having sailed the inner portion of this circumnaviagation of Vancouver Island and a small portion of the outside, it was a real treat to see the familiar places again and new places I missed for the first time. Beautiful! It is what keeps sailors coming back again and again. Nice job producing this interesting video.
What an incredible journey! Beautiful scenery and gentle music makes me feel as though I’ve just returned from a lovely sail. I highly recommend for anyone that needs a break in the day or inspiration for their next adventure!
WELL DONE! A slow start quickly builds into a very well done historical/sailing documentary. Both the Skipper and his beautiful wife, Wendy are a pleasure to listen to as they narrate a superb mini-epic. Just a surprising FIVE STARS.
