I am so glad this is a show where the kids are just kids not oversexed teens trying to be adults. It remains me of save by the bell except it is all centered around a younggirl and her quest to be a great player on a team of misfit players. This is what kids need to be watching on cable and network t.v. channels. Thank you amazon for bringing back just good old fashion fun shows without political commentary or hidden agendas. Kids don't need to be preach to , they just need to be entertained. Leave parenting and sex education to their parents. Hoping you keep the kicks around for a long time!!
I really love this show. I have two young daughters who started playing soccer this year and really love watching female athletes and have someone they can relate to. The show is postive and helps girls around similar age process emotions and life experience.
Thank you Amazon for making an great show a family can enjoy together!
This is a great show for young athletes and younggirl athletes. This show really shows themes of team bonding, friendships, rivalries, and injuries. I really like how this show is not a magical Disney show where everything goes perfect for the main character but it shows the pains of sports injuries and how they affect athletes and teamates. This show stays true to real things that happens to young athletes and sport teams. This is a good show that can inspire younggirls/kids to try sports.
This is a great family show. Both my daughters are young soccer players and this was one of our favorite things to watch as a family this season. It raises important issues about friendship, family, loyalty, teamwork, honesty, integrity, persistence, setting goals, working hard, and making good choices. Not to mention the issue of gender-bias, which the show does not shy away from. As a father of two younggirls, I love that there is a show with characters and stories my daughters can relate to. It is fun to watch and the episodes often led to discussions about what we can learn from the choices the characters made -- good or bad. This deserves to be renewed.
I am writing this review based on what my 12 year old daughter and her Grandmother think about the show. I have personally only seen small amounts. Based on that, it seems to be a show that has morals, where kids are actually kids. The girls are dressed like younggirls, rather than someone 13 going on 21! My daughter has really enjoyed it watching the show and found it to have a very enjoyable story line. I really hope for more shows like it in the future!
We loved The Kicks and can't wait to see more episodes! Our seven year old granddaughter said she " liked that Devon was being nice to another girl to help the team." Our nine year old grandson likes Devon's brother Bailey and his interest in technology. It is a rewarding twist to see the young female character presented as a disciplined athlete and her younger brother as, "not a ball catcher", though he is equally comfortable in his own skin. It is also refreshing to view a program that portrays girls as authentic and empowered as Devon and her family enter a new chapter in their lives with a cross country move.
I watched every single episode with my 11 and 9-year old daughters just to make sure (world's worst helicopter Dad). Not riveting stuff for a grown-up, but more than tolerable. Both girls really liked the show and both told me to give it 5 stars. Nothing inappropriate in my opinion, and lots of good commentary by the young lead actress about basic life lessons at the end of each episode, importance of hard work, persistence, dealing with frustration, and putting the team ahead of self-interest, etc. If Amazon makes another season, we will definitely purchase.
We really liked this pilot--there were some things that perplexed me as an adult (such as a family 'struggling' but live in a multi-million dollar beachside home), but those things were not apparent to my 5 year old daughter who enjoyed this show. It was nice to see a strong female lead, which is important to me as I have a young daughter.
My daughter has been very inspired this summer by watching the USA Women's soccer team & I believe a show like this makes for good TV for girls.
My daughters are 12 and 8 and they can't get enough of this series. My oldest has read all the books. It is so great to have a show that has a group of girls being strong and courageous together. The show is written very well and the characters are very good. I really think younggirls need good examples of how to be good people and still have fun. Please renew the series for another season. We're just one family, but considering the rating this show has, I would say there is a lot of interest.
Kids are happy! My family watched the pilot episode and was hoping that they would create a series. This has become something that the whole family watches together. My kids screamed "Noooooo!", with the cliffhanger of Season 1. They can't wait for Season 2. If you have young kids (especially girls) that are into soccer, this will probably be a hit.
