We have four kids who play soccer. Our 7 year olddaughter has read all the books and was especially excited to be able to watch the series. My husband and I weren't sure of what the quality of the show was going to be but we were pleasantly surprised. It really is entertaining for both the kids and parents. There is enough humor and story line to keep you interested and we really enjoy the acting of the main characters brother who has some great lines. Our three grade school girls love the show and even our teenage son enjoys it. Overall we're happy there is a show dedicated to showing girls play soccer and how bonding it is to be part of a team. We greatly hope they continue for another season and more.
This season has been thoroughly enjoyed by my tween daughter who has moved and has become more and more interested in soccer. The main character has real conflicts and works through them with family and friends. I think this show has been very encouraging and uplifting, which I have not seen in a long long time in our culture. Thank you for putting parents into the picture, where they give wise advice and have issues in their lives that they bring into the story. I think because it's not just about Devin, this story works. I hope future stories don't just focus on her. I LIKE that they have parents involved, friend involved, and old friends from the past. My daughter, who normally never gives 5 stars, gave this five stars. That says a lot. Please PLEASE don't turn trashy!
This is by far the best tween show I have seen. "Kicks" is modern without being smug, funny without being cynical, happy without being campy. (I have twin 11 year old girls and fortunately they don't watch the cultural vacuum called the Disney Channel. The characters are great and the show's creators should be able to do a lot with them, particularly the mother-daughter relationship/ C'mon Amazon - I'm a prime subscriber. Where are the rest of the episodes?
A great, family-friendly show!! Love the dynamics of the family. I'm a Christian and was happy to see that there were positive messages in each show and no scantily-clad girls like many of the shows we now see on Disney. The girls looked like regular girls and it was so refreshing. Kids were disrespectful to their parents sometimes, but it wasn't shown as the norm or as acceptable behavior. TMy 11-year-olddaughter and 7-year-old son enjoyed it a lot! We were all so disappointed when the season was over. Make season 2 please!
It's so refreshing to see a kids' show that doesn't rely on crass humour and stupid gimmicks to entertain the younger minds. The story and characters are inspiring and motivating and as a parent, this was actually a show I enjoyed watching with my 12 and 10 year old son and daughter respectively. I thought the writers also did a good job of showing that things in life, whether it is relationships, school "politics" and school life in general don't always go so smoothly but with some determination, persistence and creative thinking, these sort of problems are not insurmountable. And the issues tackled will be very relatable to late primary and middle school children. I would highly recommend this show and I think kids will enjoy it even if they are not into football (soccer). I hope Amazon will make more shows of this calibre and quality aimed at a similar audience.
I was concerned it wouldn't be age appropriate for my 8-year-olddaughter and would contain lots of teen and pre-teen drama often found on other shows. Happily that was not the case. It was very team and friendship focused, but tackled other issues such as peer pressure and relationships in a very tactful way. I'll admit I got sucked in watching it too and couldn't wait for the next episode. We binge watched the whole first season together when she was home sick. Thanks Amazon! Highly recommend for ages 6-12+.
This has been the perfect show I could watch with my 13 year olddaughter. We are currently rly in episode 7 and were so disappointed to discover there are only 3 episodes left and as of now, now season 2. This show is funny and heart warming. It’s engaging for myself and my daughter. It’s light and you fall in love with all the characters. Even Devon’s dorky little brother. We sure hope Amazon decides to release a sencond season.
This was a great show!!!! My 9 year old and 7 year olddaughters who are big time Soccer Players LOVED this. Please please please pick this up. It was such a positive show that they really had something in common with and could relate too. We sat down as a family and watched a couple episodes after each soccer game they played. It will be a HUGE disappointment if the episodes are not continued. And for those that have already mentioned that there are other shows on Nick and Disney like this ---there is nothing like this!!!!
I watched this show with my 8 year old soccer playing daughter. She thinks it is great to see shows about girls doing fun things like sports and not just shopping and playing dress up. Had a great message that she was able to understand and was entertaining at the same time. Production was great and would really like to see more of this series.
Our family really enjoyed this series. We have a daughter who is an avid soccer player, and who loved the books written by Alex Morgan. While the television series departs from the storyline of the books, the episodes are well done and stand on their own. Each episode manages to tell an engaging story, and also introduces a moral or behavior choice. There are good examples of sportsmanship, fairness, hard work, teamwork, and other positive messages. No plot spoilers here, but the final episodes in the series were not as good as the rest. All in all, our eleven year old thinks they are terrific, and we enjoy watching them with her.
