Excellent despite odd choices

It's unfortunate that the previous series are so absurdly expensive because they will be viewed by very few here on Amazon at those prices. It's easily one of the best police dramas ever made and even without the powerful acting from the late Johanna Sallstrom as the original Linda Wallander this final series is outstanding. Her final episode in series 1 near the end is astonishingly personal acting and even haunting.
I much preferred the previous series when Kurt was primarily running the station operations but the new structure is a good part of the story.
Linda's husband seems like a bizarrely poor choice for her character and inconsistent with everything she was in previous series. Maybe it's just me but I found it hard to believe she would have any attraction to his character and even in these episodes he just appears distracting and out of place.
Excellent video on YouTube from 2014 with Krister Henriksson & Charlotta Jonsson discussing the entire series and he reveals a lot of interesting stuff about his role as Kurt Wallander. Not the best interviewer but worth a look. Krister said he only agreed to do the third series if they gave Kurt an illness to prevent any chance of further series because he felt it was too much to keep continuing.

Hands down, in my opinion, one of the finest series of crime fiction I've read and watched. Krister Henriksson as Wallander is excellent, as is the supporting cast . My only disappointment is that Prime offers a look at only Seasons 1 and 3.

Last season is great: I have never watched anything like it.

In this last season, the wonderful cast comes together again as Kurt becomes aware of a medical condition and attempts to conceal its public presentation, while continuing to solve cases at the Ystad police department. Viewers will be riveted watching Kurt get through his days because the cast is also trying to make sense of Kurt and the perps sometimes realize that there is something in Kurt that they can use to gain advantage. It is an amazing situation and Krister Henriksson is at his best with it. I watched the episodes over the course of a week with space in between in order to make sense of each one. I have never watched anything quite like it.

Fantastic crime drama with excellent central character

Always fascinating. Love the acting and so sorry there will not be any more shows after this season. Top notch, and you don't even mind reading the subtitles, the shows are so good. If you have seen the Kenneth Branagh ones, they are not terrible, but rubbish compared to the original Swedish series.

Sad end to a wonderful seriers

This is up there with the best ever crime series I have ever watched along with Foyles War. Keister Hendricksen is a wonderful actor and is far and away the best actor in my view to portray Wallander. The way his deteriorating condition is treated is sensitive and sad but is only a sideline to the great story lines in this final series.
