Just like a roller coaster when it starts out after leaving the platform. A sudden jolt then that steep climb to the top. The coaster slows for a second as it reaches the top then boom shear terror breaks out. That is how I would describe this book a roller coaster of emotions good and bad. Once you get past 80% of the book behind you buckle up, its going to leave you plastered in the back of your seat. This is not a bedtime read either!

There is no better character in any genre better than Mitch Rapp. He is simply the best character on the page. I love him. I respect him. I want to marry him. Yes, I am very emotionally attached to my fictional characters and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Vince Flynn was one of the most exceptional authors I've ever read. And I've read a lot. His prose is perfect. His research is phenomenal. His supporting characters are perfect. Who wouldn't love Thomas Stansfield, or the lovely and very intelligent Irene Kennedy or Stan Hurley? We can't forget Scot Coleman and his merry band. There are others I like but can't think of all their names right now. The bad guys. Wow are they bad. Thank goodness we have Mitch to take those rotten terrorists out. I love every single Mitch Rapp book, also, the books written after he passed away. Great author who took the helmet for Vince. I could not recommend these books more. Oh, almost forgot some of the very worst characters in the books.... the U.S. government in Washington DC . The congressional members on the left keep trying to stop Mitch and also put him and even Irene in prison for hunting down and killing those monsters known as terrorists. Good thing Mitch and Irene and the rest of the bunch outsmart them every time. God Bless the real men and women who are out there saving our once great nation.

I am a Big fan of Rapp and Nash . not of the elected officials, who are so involved in themselves. Which is a reality. This book is pretty much about the problems the men who fight for this country run into when they come home. Just as the guys want to scream at the elected officials, the reader wants to scream right along with them. I have already read the next book in the series' just needed something to read while waiting for the next book in the series.

I have read all of Vince Flynn's other books so I thought this would be a good holiday read.

If you like books with a super secret hero former navy SEAL warrior who kills bad guys you will probably enjoy it but it's more political than normal which doesn't really work.

The book starts with Mitch Rapp, superstar CIA assassin trying to interrogate/torture some Al-Qaeda bad guys. To stop you from feeling sorry for them the author has made them truly awful i.e. one blows up schools with kids in them and the other recruits people with down syndrome to use as suicide bombers. However just as Mitch is about to beat the details of a terror attack on US soil from the nasty lips of the terrorists he is interrupted by some people who clearly believe torture is wrong even if the subjects are clearly and unequivocally evil.

The rest of the book spends a lot of time with various US senators trying to drag Mitch and his colleagues through a number of senate committee meetings to prove to the public that the CIA is torturing people. Whilst this is happening the terrorist cell is finishing its training and is sneaking into Washington.

The end is pretty incredible with the terrorists actually actual the Senators who seem to hell bent on protecting their rights. The main political character does the biggest U-turn possible.

The action is enjoyable and the CIA team are the same as the other books but it feels like all of the other characters in the book are total extremes from the aforementioned terrorists to Senators who are keener on making themselves look good than actually stopping terrorist attacks. There are no normal people in this book

It is a good page turner which didn't take me long to read but it tries to take the moral high ground and fails. I hope the next Vince Flynn book reverts to pure action and less politics

The basic concept of the story is good and appropriate in today’s world. The book is spoiled, in my opinion, by the increasing use of unnecessary expletives. Rapp is becoming a Superhero and this lessens the likelihood of the story being read as probable and more like a fairy tale. Perhaps time for Rapp to retire while credible?

Vince Flynn does it again, or, rather, his creation, Mitch Rapp does. Flynn always manages to create credible terrorists, whose twisted sense of revenge, heroism and martyrdom, leads them into ever more complicated attempts to damage the US or the Great Satan that they term that country. As usual there are politicians and others, some of them members of the military, who wish to curtail Rapp's activities. In this novel they e3ven bring him before a Judicial Inquiry, but this only serves to allow the terrorists to be at least partially successful, before Rapp, and his assistant, Mike Nash, get down to sorting things out. A real page turner that leaves the way open for another instalment.

I have read all the Vince Flynn books and this is by far the worst. Rapp is barely in it. The story line is pretty much a re-hash of other books with the bad guys changing their names. Story line: bad guys coming to the U.S., politicians want to do things by the law (not willing to fight terrorists at their own game) and this keeps Nash (main guy in this book) from acting faster, etc. Yes, you have heard it all before. A lot of the book is spent bad mouthing politicians. OK, if your first book but after hearing the same complaints every book it gets a bit old. I won't be buying his next book because I think he has simply run out of ideas.
