How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Well plotted, likeable characters , smart action & lots of real NYC . In brief, if you like crime action novels where the good guys are really good & always win, this series is for you.

Well, looks like I skipped this by accident. Not that it was much different than the other two. I started reading these because it's a series....a long series but I'm not sure I'll continue as the same things keep happening with the main character and it's rather tiresome. The plot...decent....characters...similar...but I suppose that's due to the clientele. If I continue with the series I have to take a break for a bit first. I have a need to freshen up my mind. Would I recommend this? Hmmm ๐Ÿค”

I've read probably all (60+) of Stuart Woods' Stone Barrington series as well as his other characters. I love getting a refresh of the background & beginnings of Barrington. Think I'll keep rereading while I wait for the latest release. Woods is certainly my favorite author.

So I've read thousands of books. Maybe dozens of series and Stone Barrington and this series that I've now discovered here with Stuart woods is among the most fulfilling. I'm somewhat astounded that I had not come across stone Barrington prior to today. But I'm glad that I have it to look forward to. The characters are rich. The writing is immersive and is indicative of the gritty crime novels of the late '80s early '90s.

Dirt has lots of action and deception. Stone has to find the blackmailer before the Mob does. Plus lots of murder!

Seems that going back in time Woods improves, somewhat. No more diabolical Russians, just 100% US Dirt. And, of course, Stone the hero of these series, is a a wonderful guy with just little predilection for sex, very frequent sex, of course. His erection appears to be permanent. There is a Latin name for it, oh yes, Priapism. Stone has absolutely no need for Viagra or Cialis.

There are some positives. Woods writes a dialog that is very easy to read, full of clichés but as a light reading it does its job, it can help you to fall asleep.

By the end of the book all villains are dead and the good folks triumph. Revenge using an ice pick (favorite tool of some literary heroes) is there and remains a mystery.

A NYPD's lieutenant wife as a daughter of a very wise guy? There made a movie about something like that, I think.

Idiotic president of a coop board? I used to a president of a condo in Florida and (being very young, only 64) I was probably as pompous as this fictional character.

And, of course, New York. I lived in that area 1968 - 1995 and I have good memories of these years. The traffic jams, no cabs when it rains, etc.

There a few sentences about Los Angeles, with its traffic on the 'freeways' even worse than on the NYC avenues. I live now in a safe distance of almost all civilization.

The bottom line: I may buy another book by Woods, most likely the previous one.

Three stars - the book is OK but not for people who prefer something more substantial.

3.0 out of 5 stars The sex in these books is TIRESOME

I personally can't get into these books, the sex in them is cheesy, especially the sexual dialogue. Seriously, it's so unrealistic and degrading towards women. All the women are the epitome of a sex pot and seem to be sexually insatiable. GIVE ME A BREAK.
My husband, whose read more of these
novels than me, rolls his eyes every time a new sexual encounter happens, which is all the time in these books.
It's just old.

Stone Barrington is retired policemen turned lawyer who does some freelancing for a prestigious firm in New York City. This story revolves around the mystery of who is behind a serious of faxes that are quite derogatory toward the publisher Charles Hickock and his favorite free lance writers named Amanda. Amanda brings Stone into the case and thats when the plot thickens and places Stone and his new ladyfriend in danger. From that point on the story is rather mundane. The writing is rather simple and Stone continues to bed every babe meets.

Woods books are never going to win any literary awards but they do serve a purpose despite all the negative reviews. I think a lot pf guys enjoy them by living vicariously through Stone's conquests. This is not the kind of book I would normally read but you know what?.......Reading one is just pure fun if that what you feel like reading at the time.I could not read a study diet off these but if I am in the mood I find them fun and enjoyable......nothing wrong with that! Also it ia kind of fun to read about who the "in people" in the City live.

Enjoyed reading about Stone once again The author keeps it very interesting and especially coming from New York City you know a lot of the areas he writes about. A definite must-read going to book number 3
