About the author

"Our best friend, our next-door neighbor and ourselves with just a touch of the outrageous." That’s how RT Book Review describes Joanna’s protagonist, Kiki Lowenstein. The truth is that’s a pretty good description of Joanna as well.
Joanna is a New York Times Bestselling, USA Today Bestselling, and Amazon Bestselling author as well as a woman prone to frequent bursts of crafting frenzy, leaving her with burns from her hot glue gun and paint on her clothes. And the mess? Let’s not even go there.
Otherwise, she’s a productive author with more than 80 written projects to her credit. Her non-fiction work includes how to books, a college textbook for public speakers, and books of personal essays (think Chicken Soup for the Soul).
Currently she writes four fiction series: The Kiki Lowenstein Mystery Series (Agatha Award Finalist, contemporary, St. Louis setting, crafting), the Cara Mia Delgatto Mystery Series (contemporary, Florida setting, DIY and recycling), the Jane Eyre Chronicles (Daphne du Maurier Award Winner, 1830s England, based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic), and the Sherlock Holmes Fantasy Thrillers (late 1800s, based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s books).
A former TV talk show host, college teacher, and public relations specialist, Joanna was one of the early Chicken Soup for the Soul contributors. She won a Silver Anvil for her work on the original FarmAid concert to benefit farmers.
In her ongoing quest never to see snow again, Joanna lives with her husband and their Havanese puppy, Jax, on an island off the coast of Florida. You can email her at jcslan@joannaslan.com or visit her website at http://www.JoannaSlan.com

This book delves into all sorts of relationships and forms of love.
Also jealousy, competition, teenage hormones, and friendship from unlikely sources.
The scrapbooking business seems to be at the center of this mystery, but could there be another motive when attacks don't appear to be random.
Besides a strange death that Kiki can't stay out of, this addition to the series has many hilarious moments, including several involving Kiki's usually stuffy and stern mother-in-law.
Something here for everyone including helpful crafting tips.
Much to my surprise, I could not put it down! In the span of a lazy Sunday, I read the whole book. I was amazed at my personal connection to Kiki. She reminded me of my wife and had traits of several other significant women in my life. Also, anyone with a mother-in -law will certainly relate to Shelia. Her need to control is a universal theme to meddlesome inlaws. But as always, the hidden agenda is done in a spirit of helpfulness.
The preteen daughter, Anya, reminds me so much of my own Miss Attitude. OMG, I rolmao just thinking about Missy Madames wtf hissy fits.
Slan certainly knows her scrapbook stuff! Reading about the technics and social aspects of the scrapping community was dead -on. Scrappers have their own lingo, which I have been exposed to for ten+ years. It was funny to read the language as used outside my wife's Scrapping network.
What is truly amazing about Slan's prose is how well it holds up in several genre's; mystery, romance, comedy, how to, farce, relationships and crime stories. The spa trip and the saga of the moles are both extremely funny. This book offers an uncannily accuracte journey into the cut -throat world of the cropping cult. I recommend this wild ride for an insiders look at the mystery and mayhem of the acid and lignon free, creative world of SCRAPBOOKING!

Flat feeling. I guess books in a series end that way.

The book was OK; the characters were nicely described and were quite likeable and the plot was entertaining although it became pretty obvious who Yvonne's murderer was about half way through the book. I suspect I would have enjoyed it more if I'd had the opportunity to read the first book in the series before I read this one. I strongly recommend readers to read this first book Paper, Scissors, Death: A Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery: Scrap-N-Craft Mystery Series, Book 1 before reading Cut, Crop & Die: Scrap-N-Craft Mystery Series, Book 2 (A Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery) .
The two things which I found quite irritating were firstly the random appearance of scrapbooking tips scattered throughout the book (even in the middle of chapters!) and secondly, the "bonus material" at the back of the book was too small to read on the Kindle version - even when increasing the font size to maximum.
The book was well formatted and contained very few typos... it did, however, contain lots of American slang which, without the handy Kindle American dictionary, would have left me puzzled.
On balance, it was a good enough way to spend a rainy afternoon, but I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy the third book in the series.

The one thing that did irritate me was the constant reference to what was obviously a previous book, about how Kiki's husband died and how she chased down the murderer (who is still at large, so no doubt future books also follow this theme). I do dislike books that keep referring to another book in the series with no resolution in sight. It is almost like a serial rather than a complete book.
This book was quite a good light read, especially for paper crafters, and the characters quite well portrayed, especially Grace the dog, who sounded lovely. At times I felt like shaking the main character, Kiki, particularly where her dress sense ( or lack of it) was concerned. This, as well as a few other things, just did not ring true, hence the removal of one star. I would have given it 3.5 if possible.

I found it very easy to get into this book, the characters were believable and likable and the story was really interesting. This is a basic who-done-it with a twist towards scrapbooking. The murder victim was killed at a crop (a meeting of scrap bookers and card makers), and the wanna-be detcective, Kiki, works in a scrapbook store (the store that planned the crop) and likes to play at being a sluth since the muder of her husband.
There were plenty of twists and turns in this book and I was really wasn't able to guess what was coming next, I certainly didn't work out who the murderer was before the story told me!
I enjoyed this book so much it only took me a few days to read even though it is quite long in comparrison to other similar style kindle books. I will be looking for more books in this series as at the end of some of the chapters are craft tips/techniques that I would like to try out for myself! I also feel there is a lot more in the life of Kiki that I'd like to know about!

I bought it a while ago and was casting around to read something a little different and decided to read this. I actually started reading this first but got annoyed with the references to the first book so went back and read that first.
You get invested in the characters really fast and I am in love with Gracie (and would love to meet her lol). I was so engrossed that I stayed up until 6am last night/this morning to finish the book. I have only done this with one other book!
I am looking forward to book 3.
